New Moon in Ashwini: Intensity & Healing

There is a palpable electricity in the air as we arrive at this Aries New Moon, and the sky above tells a striking story. Every planet is currently crowded into just three zodiac signs, a rare configuration in Vedic astrology that has occurred several times since the start of 2026.  It is named after the trident of Shiva, the three-pronged weapon, which shows the energy is concentrated, pointed, and powerful. This is an intense and pressured sky and deserves respect. Add to this, all planets are hemmed on one side of the zodiac, by Rahu and Ketu, the shadow planets, the eclipse makers. This sky feels both electric and constrained. This is not the moment to push your luck, stir up conflict, or move carelessly. Patience, groundedness, and the wisdom to respond rather than react are your best allies right now.

Aries, the Exalted Sun, and the End of the Fog

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the sign of bold beginnings, of leaping headfirst into new adventures. There is genuine momentum available here, and the Sun in Aries is exalted, meaning it is functioning at its highest and most clarifying power. If you have felt cloudy, confused, or caught in a fog over recent weeks, that veil is lifting. The exalted Sun brings a return of clarity, direction, and a renewed sense of self.

The Ashwini Kumaras: Speed, Healing, and Sacred Knowledge

This New Moon falls in Ashwini Nakshatra, one of the most dynamic and luminous of the 27 lunar mansions. Ashwini is ruled by the Ashwini Kumaras, the twin horse-headed divine physicians, celestial healers who are said to move faster than thought itself. They are the original physicians of the gods, the source of the healing arts, and deeply connected to the roots of Ayurveda. Their energy is forward-moving, action-oriented, and regenerative.

This nakshatra carries within it a profound reservoir of metaphysical knowledge offering healing on all levels, physical, energetic, and spiritual. This New Moon is a beautiful moment to set intentions around personal healing, to revisit your relationship with your body and vitality, and to explore any healing modalities that empower you.  The impulse under Ashwini will be to move, to launch, to go, so use this knowledge to stay centred rather than scatter and burn out.

How to Work With This Energy

Given the intensity of the Shoola Yoga and the hemming of planets between the nodes, the wisdom of this New Moon is not to not give in to forceful action, but to prepare for it.

Go inward. New Moons are naturally a time of going inward and reflecting.

Work with healing. Ashwini is a nakshatra of medicine and restoration. This is an auspicious time for any healing practice, especially Ayurveda.  Tend to your body with care.

Stay grounded. With all that fiery, intense concentrated energy, the body needs anchoring. Be outside, hug a tree, hike, eat warm nourishing food, be with the exalted sun.

Respond, don't react. This sky feels sharp. When things provoke you, pause before you speak. The exalted Sun gives you enough clarity to choose your response well.

Mark Your Calendar: Akshaya Tritiya — April 19th

Just two days after this New Moon, on April 19th, we arrive at Akshaya Tritiya, one of the most auspicious days in the Vedic calendar. Akshaya means "that which never diminishes." On this day, all blessings, spiritual efforts, charitable acts, and new beginnings are said to be magnified and made permanent. It is considered an auspicious moment however, there is also a planetary war between Mars, Saturn and Mercury… so we cannot blindly expect what we want.  With the world and it’s material shifts, our best use of this day is to send blessings that never diminish to all our global neighbours and to donate to charity that will support those in need.

More on this very special day to come…

Blessings for this Aries New Moon!
