New Moon in Sagittarius- The Galactic Center

Updated: Dec 21, 2025

December 19 2025

The New Moon in Sagittarius is located at the galactic center within the Milky Way - the place the Mayans referred to as the World Tree.

Sagittarius is symbolized by a mythical centaur, half human and half horse, aiming a bow and arrow toward the target of higher consciousness. We are that mythical character on a hero’s journey, learning to rise above our lower impulses and striving toward the sacred. At this stage of our journey, we embark on a quest for truth, wisdom, and spiritual guidance.

Sagittarius follows Scorpio.  This last month, some area of life felt out of control and unstable. Now, we realize that by surrendering to something higher, the cosmic mind, we no longer need to scramble along doing everything alone. Plugging into the Big Mind, we are carried by grace and wisdom. This Sagittarius cycle, we can open to receive clear vision, inspiration and guidance.

This moon leads us towards taking wise action when w move beyond trivial considerations and aim for greatness.

by reflecting on profound questions such as: Who am I? Who created me? What has brought me to this moment? What inspires me?

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the Guru (remover of darkness). Find your spiritual path and dedicate yourself to the teachings of wisdom, growth, and expansion. Study something that inspires and expands your awareness.

The Nakshatra of this new moon is Mula located at the area of Sagittarius where there looms a massive black hole. This hole warps time and space as we know it and makes us realize that the knowledge we possess is the size one grain of sand. This awe and wonder should uplift and inspire us and bring a sense of expansion.

Nirriti is the goddess of death and destruction connected to this Nakshatra.  She comes to destroy our limited mind, and she is fierce when we hold onto attachments that restrict our awareness of our true power.

Nirriti awakens us to the vast ocean of consciousness where all knowledge is born. Be open to letting go of what you think you know and who you think you are and the possibilities that will unfold are limitless.

This new moon is 2 days before the winter solstice when the sun is at its smallest here in the Northern hemisphere.  This is a sacred time, revealing the magical light of the cosmos. When it’s this dark, so many more stars are revealed, so many more possibilities awaken within.

May this New Moon shatter your small ideas of who you are and fill you with awe and wonder.
