New Moon in Taurus

Updated: May 26

May 26th’s new moon is in front of the constellation Taurus, where the moon is in her highest glory and we feel more calm, grounded, content, and ready to stop and smell the roses.

Taurus is symbolized by the cow, a gentle, vegetarian who is revered for its nourishing milk and peaceful, herding nature. Cows are honoured as the divine caretakers of the world because of their sacred milk which represents the Divine Mother herself. When we really stop to ponder this, we realize that Mother nature is who provides everything we need to thrive and grow.

The Taurus new moon cycle reminds us to drop into gratitude for all we receive from nature, including this precious body. We often take this incredible gift for granted, along with food, water, beauty, and our loved ones because we live in a society that teaches consumption and accumulation. We forgot how to enjoy the moment and then let it go.

You see, Gratitude shows us how to love what we have right now, without gripping, controlling and wanting more.  Our love suffers greatly whenever we try to possess something or someone, and gratitude is the remedy that helps us release the heavy chains of control.

Taurus represents our money and possessions, the things we try to own. So you can see what you deem as your “holy cow” by noticing what you spend your money on. How do you invest your valuable resources? Including your time?

Look and see if your "spending" aligns with who you "think" you are. Now see if it aligns with who you really are.

Is attachment and accumulation weighing you down?  Are you satisfied with what you have?  Or do you find yourself desiring more with each purchase?

Mercury joins this moon enhancing our thoughts and communication. By evaluating the quality of your speech, you can also notice what are you building and growing in your world with the words you speak internally and externally.

The new Moon Nakshatra, is Rohini, symbolized by a chariot, the preferred transportation of the gods. Think of yourself as a god “riding in style" surrounded by luxury and beauty. This star is about sensuality and romance and enjoying the pleasures of the world.

Just remember to be content with the version of the chariot you have and loosen your grip on wants and desires. Wanting to possess can turn into jealousy of others, and that energy quickly sours. Keep yourself light, joyful, and full of gratitude, and your desires will naturally let go
